FIS...Somehow That Does Not Work As Well As FIT, LOL!...

"Jackson" Original Digital Collage by Jamie Miller
image used from my personal collection

Oh My!!!!! What a whirlwind everything has been!!! What were we thinking?!! LOL!!! In less than two weeks we found a house, made an offer, got approval for the loan, got it inspected, got issues fixed, started the boys at their new school, called in contractors to paint and touch up the old house after we move, changed over to the new address for all the bills, had utilities and what not set up for the new house, got movers ready to go and have been packing every day. We close next Wednesday and move on the 12th, next Saturday. All in all, it is kind of like ripping off a band-aid. The faster the better:)

The new school for the boys is AWESOME!!!! They are really wonderful and have welcomed us with open arms. That means so much to us. They only attended their old school for two days before they switched so it was not too bad changing. They were sad at first, but the new school is so great and they love it.

Unfortunately, while they were still at the old school a little boy ran into David and hit his left ear. The one he had surgery on in July. The one we have had to be so careful about all summer. Ear drum grafts are very fragile and you really have to baby them. I took him to the ENT surgeon and sure enough his ear graft has been torn. We are hoping/praying that it closes back up on it's own, but that's rare and we are most likely looking at another surgery in the Fall. In the mean time, poor David can not have PE or recess. He can't even go outside in case someone else runs into him. He is being very good about the whole mess. I, on the other hand, am a total wreck. I know that the new surgery will be more involved this time. I know it will be more painful and have a longer recovery time. It makes me so sad for him. He was so brave for the last surgery. He spent the whole summer with no swimming and no running/playing to ensure the graft took and it was all for nothing. Now he can not play baseball this year. He can not do anything active. It feels really frustrating and really unfair. I am like a petulant child with this one. I want to throw a temper tantrum and get my way. Silly. I know. It will be ok and he will be ok and we will do the best that we can do.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes and sweet new house thoughts. I have not even sat down at the computer until yesterday when I made "Jackson". I can't tell you what a relief it was to just be and create and not think of anything but the work before me. It was a much needed reprieve from all the crazy:) So, here is the original image for you to play with also. He is such a sweet Boy. I have left him as I found him. Scratches and all. When I have some time I will clean him up for you:) Sometimes imperfection is just perfect.

To all my Sweet Art-e-ologists (Followers and Lurkers),

You all add joy to my day and knowing you are there is such a wonderful feeling. Thank you for your support and friendship. Love, Jamie

My dear Jamie - I am exhausted just reading about your life at the moment! It seems incredible to me that it is possible to find a house and move in with all the legalities sorted in such a short time. Here you are talking about MONTHS... so frustrating, but at least it gives a little bit of time to breathe! And poor little David... I feel so much for you. I hope it turns out to be a little better than you are anticipating. So good that they are to be settled in a nice school though...Again, school places here are at a premium and many mothers are unable to find places for their children within their home area.
I wish you so much happiness in your new home with your lovely family for a long time to come xxxxxx

I am happy to hear you are in your new home, although it sounds like you have more than enough stress right now. I also pray that David's ear will heal and no surgery will be required. Keep your chin up...as my DH always says "this too shall pass"...and make time for yourself after you unpack 10 boxes...rewards!!! HUGS and have a great weekend! Jackson is oh sooo charming! :)

After reading all of that I had to take a deep breath. Good thing I was already sitting down. Wow, you have accomplished a lot. Way to go!! So sorry to hear about your sons collision and the tear in his ear. Poor thing! I am sure he will come through the next round as good as the first. Pray, pray, pray ad just maybe he won't have to. Hmmm, any chance he mat become interested in arts-n-crafts during this out of sports time? LOL! Best wishes to all of you with your new house adventure. Have a great weekend.

I had to chuckle when I read your analogy of moving and ripping off band aides! Funny & oh, so true! Am so happy to hear that your boys are happy in their new school. Change can be so difficult!

Am sorry to hear about your son's incident. Poor guy! Will keep him in my prayers.

Thanks you for Jackson! He's adorable! Good luck with your upcoming move! Hugs, Terri

OK- jsut sayin' I'm jealous about the quick house thing- ours has been on the market for 5 months. SIGH. But someone looked last night, and we have another showinf scheduled for Wednesday.

The whole eardrum things just STINKS. I am sorry for you and your son. I can only imagine how frustrating the whole thing must be. My youngest has tubes in his ears, and that's pain enough. Thank goodness he's not old enough to swim yet (or hasn't been taught), so I don't hav to worry about that.

Good luck to you with the move. Hugs to David.

Hi Jamie! I'm so glad things are progressing with regard to the move. My heart goes out to you in light of what's happened with David. I know it must be so frustrating. I pray that whatever happens, you will all have the strength and grace to come through it. Hopefully this trial will make all the good things that much sweeter. Thanks for Jackson. He looks amazingly good-natured, considering that he's wearing a dress and sporting "bananna" curls! I wish my hair looked that good :)

First I love your collage and thank for letting us have the image also!
I can't believe you are doing all this moving, I am still packing to get my house ready to sell.
I am so sorry to read about David's ear. How scary is that? My third son had a lot of issues with his hearing and ears. He was deaf for 6 years - a massive head trauma - however today he had 100% in one ear and 99% in the other. Still gets bad head aches and doesn't like noise. We were very lucky. It was a lot of sleepless nights. One thing that helped was having his class become responsible for him. They looked out after him like mother hens. Still to this day some of his friends are very protective of him. I am keeping all of you in my prayers.

Ouch, poor David! I pray he heals well and quickly. Your moving thing is nuts - where DO you get your energy?! I'm glad you are all happy about it, though!

Wow! What a lot has happened for you! New house, new school ... and your poor little guy and his ear. I am so sorry he is having such ear trouble and am wishing and praying hard that it closes up on it's own.

What a bummer that the graft has been dammaged! DARN! I don't blame both of you for being upset about this. Well, maybe it will heal on it's own. Seems like this little guy deserves a break (no pun intended)for the good! I can't wait to see a couple of photos of the new house. Congratulations! I bet trying to get stuff fixed & move in all this rain has been NO FUN! Enjoy your new house.

Well, it is pretty darn embarrassing that I haven't blog visited in like a month. But, here I am, finally. Hope by now you are all moved in and settled and enjoying the new house. So sorry to hear about your son. Mine had such problems when he was young. One heart issue caused him not to be able to play at recess or do anything that might raise his pulse (for fear of a heart attack in first grade, can you imagine?). It was so tough and I feel for you and him, but time heals most things and now my son is about to be 18 and does most anything he wants. So, this too shall pass and your son has lots of years to run about and play and make up for this quiet time! Tell him to hang in there!

Well today is the big move in day and I know you will be so happy to be in your new home and also exhausted at the end of it.
So sorry to hear of your little man's ear troubles. I know it is so hard to be a parent and feel so helpless sometimes. He is young and remarkably resilient. He'll be just fine.
Good luck with the unpacking and settling in. That is always so much fun to give your belongings a new place to reside within your new home.

Love your "Jackson".

Tammy
