Ya'll...

Let me start out by saying, "I swear I do not make this stuff up." Ok, here it is. I have poison ivy. ON... MY... FACE! I have an art retreat next week and I am going to have to meet over 30 lovely strangers looking like Jo-Jo the Dog Faced Girl. It is swollen and itching and awful. I went to the doctor today and got a steroid shot in my back-side (OUCH!!) and then steroid cream and steroid pills (see photo:) Hopefully, I can keep it out of my eyes. Because that would be bad. It started out as a little bump two days ago and then began to spread all over. I have no idea how I got it. I don't garden. Ya'll know I have a black thumb and can only grow things in the back of my pantry or refrigerator. I was picking up toys in the backyard earlier this week and maybe some was in the grass, but who knows? So bare with me ONCE AGAIN and look for the ambrotype post tomorrow when the steroid cream has kicked in and I don't feel like I want to rip my face off Hannibal Lecter style. Thank you so much for your lovely comments. I am pretty sure I have gotten back to everyone, but if not then let me know.

Love, Jamie

PS-I think I need some of those mittens that you put on newborns so they don't scratch themselves with their finger nails. For Reals.

You poor thing!!! OMG! My mom used to wear white gloves to be because she had eczema and would scratch it at night. Just a though....

I rubbed my eyes at night and scratched my cornea after RK surgery...So I had to wear very uncomfortable GOGGLES to bed...

But your situation is much worse......I'm sure your students will understand...and you'll do just fine.

My SIL can get poison ivy from a block away...it's strange.

Hugs!!!!

Linda

Oh this is bad, oh so bad. I hate poison ivy. You might have gotten it from the kids clothes. My boys brought it home one time and I got it on the inside of my arm. Please be careful with your eyes. I do have a funny story for later about this but wait till your not all itchy. I am thinking about you - stay cool!

Oooooh, Jamie, you POOR Baby! My heart is going out to you, and I've asked the "healing angels" to surround you and maybe even tie your hands behind your back! My son is DEATHLY allergic to the stuff. We've been through the steroid treatments (unfortunately) many times. You're right . . . one moment it's a small bump and then the bump explodes!!!!

Hopefully the shot will relieve a ton of the itches and swelling. I'm sending "healing vibes" to you too. Hugs, Terri xoxo

I feel so bad for you... back when I was YOUNG I got poison ivy on my face on my vacation just before school started, and had to enter the 9th grade looking like some scary monster... I know your pain. But the steroids will help! I bet you are almost all better by the time your retreat starts!

Oh my poor Jamie! I have had poison ivy and it is not fun. My brother had to be hospitalized once with it - he got it in his eyes and mouth digging up roots cutting a trail on a wildlife refuge. I've had friends that unknowingly burned it and had to be hospitalized from inhaling the fumes. It is nasty stuff. On the other hand, my dad is immune to it and can pull it out with his bare hands and not ever get a bump. Hope you get some relief from the meds and never ever get it again.

The new printer/scanner is a toy to be envied! Holy moly! You lucky duck! How did you rate getting that just after Father's Day? hmmmm? My poor honey got a new toilet and had to put it in for Father's Day. I'm pretty sure he would have rather had the printer too.

The pictures below are just gorgeous. I can't wait to use that top hunky guy! Thank you sweet friend!

Get better,
marsha

Jamie you poor thing! Maybe try oven mits and then tape them around your wrist. I can't imagine how itchy and uncomfortable it must be anyway but to have it on your face......
I hope the shot and topical help to rid you of this VERY soon! AND there is no way, no matter what, you could ever look like a dog faced girl!
Take care and DO NOT scratch!!
XOXO
Lisa

Sorry you didn't put a picture of yourself in your message. Might have been nice to use in crafting... :) No, serious: I hope you will be better soon.
Btw: I used one of your photos for an ATC. I think it came out very nice.

I'm so sorry about the poison ivy. I can practically break out from being near the stuff.

I know you've already dealt with it, but there's a product called Technu that works wonders. The ointment draws the toxins out and helps to dry the rash. I swear by the stuff.

I hope you feel better soon.
