This is my entry to The Three Muses Challenge. The theme was Mona Lisa and you can choose any type of art medium to create the challenge piece. I used digital art today:) Thank you for a wonderful new challenge Ladies!!
Summer break has started and I may lose my mind!! The boys can't seem to keep their hands off of each other!! And the boy noises are so loud and constant.
To start it all off, on Thursday, the last day of school, James fell asleep in the car on the way home. I carried him inside and he slept for 3 hours. When he woke up he thought it was the morning and he asked for breakfast and then announced loudly that it was, "The first day of summer!!!!!!". David then said, "No James, you slept through summer and today is the first day of First Grade." James then began to cry. Help Me!!
Quote for Today:
"Also, since art is a vehicle for the transmission of ideas through form, the reproduction of the form only reinforces the concept. It is the idea that is being reproduced. Anyone who understands the work of art owns it. We all own the Mona Lisa.

I love this Jamie! Very cool! Thank you so much for the comment you left me - I'm brand new to this kind of thing, so I need all the encouragement I can get! Thank you for giving me just that! I'm really hoping to grow as an artist. ~Lori

LOL... boys! Sounds like something you would hear at my house.
Fabulous piece, Jamie!
Now this is what I call altered art! Really clever and beautifully executed! I love it!
What a fun start to the summer - that David is going to keep you on your toes! James may not appreciate his quick wit but I am still laughing!

Jamie, I love your Mona with the Mona mask. How clever. It's beautiful and sharp. I need to work on getting my digital stuff sharper.
Your boys sound like fun! I think the older ones comment to the younger one is priceless. Happy summer.
Hi Jamie,
I noticed you dropped by today to visit my blog. Thanks for becoming a follower! I just love visiting your site, as I have been a follower since OWOH. You have some of the best digital art! Love your work. ~Nan
How brilliant is this! Just love it, very clever idea.
I love your interpretation!!!!!
Oh, now this is just TOO cute! I love this...you're SO creative, Jamie. If I didn't like you so much, I'd be envious!
-smile-
Well, I already wrote on your flickr but have to tell you again how very fantastically perfect this is. It looks like the mask was there all along. I have always had a "thing" for Mona and I just love this to pieces - I am so impressed with you! But that kinda sounds like I wasn't impressed before and I have been since I met you. Okay, enough mush for you today.
Your boys crack me up. That's pretty funny. Oh, the day will come when you will miss the brain freezes the kids cause you. Mine are 15 and 17 and the brain freezes are a bit different but I am already dreading college. I miss them already.
Have a good week little miss Jamie!

p.s. I'll watch for your textures. And, when we're both home later this summer, I am going to ask for some help on photoshop. I'll send you some work in exchange for your help (though that sounds hardly fair).
Gorgeous piece of work!
This is very lovely- Mona with the mask- very creative idea with beautiful results!
Hi Jamie,
This digital piece is so cool!:)
I am so excited that you are interested in the photomanipulation class -- it will be a lot of fun!:)
I put you on my contact list.
I totally relate to your "end of the school year story" and chuckled several times. My kiddos are also at each other's throats -- last week of preschool. I am hoping we will slip into a comfortable, relaxing summer:)
You are so sweet to offer the "Tuttle" cab card to me.
xo
Love this love this love this.
Ahh summer vacation.... I miss those days with all my boys. Hard going through them but harder not.
I made a little collage with some of your images on my blog. Hope it is okay to post you like this. I really love your Mona.
Poor James. Was it Incabad Crane who slept for 20 years??Big bothers!!! Mine was a little brother ( his name was James too). He would catch bugs, put them under my door and when I would scream I would have to pay him to kill them!!
LOL...this David and James story is SO funny! Seriously cracking me up...so typical. I think summertime is akin to childbirth. I always hear mothers saying they can't wait until summer so they can have their kiddos home with them. Seems they've forgotten just how painful it really is! :) Have fun!
Good luck with those kiddos ! I am sure they will settle into the freedom and space of the summer soon. If not, I maybe there is a summer day camp for adults you could look into !;)
Mona is incredible - this should be entered somewhere - I just can't believe you gave her that mask so seamlessly !
Happy Wednesday, lovely Jamie !
Love your surreal Mona and mask, as well as the wonderful quote!
Brilliant!!!!!!
